My craft Dairy: Bandi - Jhabua tribal jacket

Bandi (Half coat) it is the traditional suit of tribals of Jhabua.It was very much liked by the former prime minister Mr.Rajiv Gandhi, Also Narendra Modi and Shivraj singh Chouhan respected CM of gujrat and MP during his Jhabua visit.Most of the people visiting Jhabua are getting attracted to this tribal crafted Bandi . But hardly the value of this craft is diminishing as after modernization of adivasi youth they prefer shirts instead of Bandi and also their craftsmen are leaving this Candicraft . roaming in the market and just tracing local tailors I found a Tailor shop Who suupply Bundies and yet in this field .

So These famous bundi's are only crafted by theses tailors .

Hitesh and arjun bhai still carrying their hierarchical work of making tribal dresses . As after gaining accesto their shop They showed me The importance and processure of making this Famous Bandies

About Bandi Jacket

Bandi jacket is made of good quality of cotton cloth and its stitched two sided . Generally black in color these bandi's were worn in marraiges and in dance of bheel adivasi during some festivals or marraiges . This special kind of Jackets doesnt have buttons instead of button they have a flap on waist which can be cover by Langot .Waist wear of tribals .
Best part of Bandi is borders are made with beautiful red color tribal embroidery and front and back of this black jacket are embroidered with hand stitched pattern .
It take % days for a crafteman to make a bundi and it cost around 1000 INR .
Also craftsmen lives in interior areas of jhabua villages near jhalod etc Gujrat MP border . and many of the craftsmen are migrating towards western style apparels .
This field need an attention as It can generate livelihood for tribals and preserve their traditions . .
